ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed by a retired employee of the respondent Transport Corporation, seeking a Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay the interest at the rate of 18% per annum for the belated payment of retirement benefits including, Provident Fund, Earned Leave, Encashment amount and also surrender leave encashment amount along with while on service along with interest.

2. Considering the admitted fact that there has been a delay in payment, the petitioner is entitled to statutory interest as provided under law.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner would restrict his claim of interest at the rate of 6% per annum.

4. In view of the same, the writ petition stands disposed of. The respondents are directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on 2/4

the belated terminal benefits payable to the petitioner and also to disburse the eligible voluntary retirement compensation along with 6% interest per annum from the date of his entitlement till the date of his payment within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
