O R D E R
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to quash the FIR in Crime No.623 of 2023 on the file of the first respondent police, registered against the petitioners for the offences punishable under Sections 147, 448 & 380 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992.
2. The allegation in the FIR is that there was a landlord-tenant dispute between the petitioners and the second respondent/defacto complainant; that the petitioners trespassed into the house and damaged the belongings of the second respondent/defacto complainant, and thus committed the aforesaid offences.
3. Admittedly, the petitioners and the second respondent/defacto complainant had a landlord-tenant relationship. The parties have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 11th October 2025. The scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

The petitioners, namely, (1) Aamila Sulthana Reeth Ahamed [Aadhaar No.8940 2095 9745] and (2) Mohammed [Aadhaar No.8430 4555 3603], and the second respondent/defacto complainant, namely, Padma [Aadhaar No.9588 2255 0906] are present before this Court in person. The parties are identified by Mr.K.Subramani, Special SubInspector of Police, Sessions Court Police Station, Trichy City. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

Considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the First Information Report (FIR) pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned First Information Report (FIR) in Crime No.623 of 2023 on the file of the first respondent police, is quashed. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.5,000/- as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
