This writ petition has been filed for a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to pay the petitioner interest at the rate of 18 % per annum for the period of delay from 01.03.2024 to 24.08.2025 in paying the amounts paid towards the terminal and pension benefits namely EPF Employees contribution Gratuity and Commutated Value of pension of her deceased husband /retired employee (Late) A. Mariappan staff No. 5182.

2. Considering the admitted fact that there has been a delay in payment, the petitioner is entitled to statutory interest as provided under law.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner would restrict his claim of interest at the rate of 6% per annum.

4. In view of the same, the writ petition stands disposed of. The respondents are directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the belated terminal benefits of the petitioner's husband payable to the petitioner from the date of entitlement till the date of payment within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
