ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed for Mandamus to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to provide necessary police protection to the office of the petitioner and his employees for conduct of their business by considering the petitioner's representation dated 01.10.2025.

2. The fourth respondent on behalf of the employees and the respondents 5 to 16 has filed an affidavit, the relevant paragraph of which reads as follows: "4. I state that as a responsible trade union in the Gandhi Market we are functioning in peaceful manner and solving our demands in the presence of the Joint Commissioner of Labour, Tiruchirapplli. I hereby undertake that our Union and its members will not resort to any illegal activities and cause disturbance to the peaceful functioning of the petitioner and other owners business. If members of our union resort to any illegal activities and create any law and order problem, the law and order authority can proceed against them in accordance with law. I assure that our union and our members will maintain the peace and we solve our demands in accordance with law."

3. Though an affidavit is sworn in by the fourth respondent, the fourth respondent has averred that it is sworn in on behalf of the respondents 5 to 16 and the learned counsel for the respondents 5 to 16 confirms the said fact.

4. In view of the undertaking given by the respondents 4 to 16 in the affidavit extracted above, this Court is of the view that no further direction is required. However, if the respondents 4 to 16 violate the above undertaking, it 3/5

is open to the petitioner to seek police protection and the respondent Police may consider the said request favourably.

5. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
