ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking to quash the FIR in Crime No.788 of 2024 on the file of the first respondent Police, which was registered for the offences under Sections 296(b), 118(1), 85 and 351(3) of BNS and Section 4 of TNPHW Act.

2. The allegation in the FIR is that the first petitioner is the husband of the defacto complainant; that petitioners committed cruelty in connection with a demand of dowry; that they abused the defacto complainant in filthy language and also criminally intimidated her and thus, committed the aforesaid offences.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the defacto complainant/the second respondent would submit that the second respondent is now living with the first petitioner and the parties have now entered into a compromise on the advise of the elders and wellwishers and both the parties have agreed that the impugned F.I.R may be quashed.

4.The parties have also filed a joint compromise memo dated 25.10.2025. The scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

5.The petitioners, namely, Vijay Anand (Aadhaar No.3380 0646 8389) Dhanavel (Aadhaar No.2631 6084 0879), Padhmavathy (Aadhaar No.5274 6048 4918) and the second respondent, namely, Nalini (Aadhaar No.4000 3751 2808) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.C.Kulanthai Velu, Sub Inspector of Police, Nachiyarkovil Police Station, Thanjavur District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them. 6.Considering the relationship between the parties and the fact that the parties have arrived at a compromise, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.788 of 2024, on the file of the first respondent police, is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
