Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay compensation of Rs.9 lakhs for the death of the petitioner's husband Mr.Selvaraj, due to electrocution with interest at 9% from the date of accident. O R D E R

This petitioner seeks compensation of Rs.9 lakhs for the death of the petitioner's husband with interest at 9% from the date of the accident.

2. The petitioner would state that her husband died due to electrocution on 16.05.2004, when he was working in the agricultural field, due to electric over head, wire slapped and fell on the petitioner's husband.

3. It is alleged that the accident had taken place due to the negligence on the part of the respondents.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the respondent / Tamilnadu Electricity Board would submit that in similar facts, this Court in W.P.(MD)No.13928 of 2010 by an order https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

dated 28.02.2017 has awarded compensation of Rs.5 lakhs as lumpsum.

5. By following the order, respondents are directed to pay Rs.5,00,000/- to the petitioner within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
