By relying on sale deed dated 30.07.2025, which was executed by one Malar Rani in favour of the petitioner, and Patta Nos.3148 and 1198, the petitioner had applied for grant of patta in respect of land in Survey Nos.368/1A and 368/1C.

2. Learned Additional Government Pleader submits that Patta No. 3148 in respect of Survey No.368/1A stands in the name of petitioner's vendor Malar Rani. As regards Patta No.1198, he points out that it stands in the name of Lekkan Moopar and Alagarsamy Moopar. In response, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that Lekkan Moopar was the late father of Malar Rani and that Alagarsamy Moopar was his brother. He submits that Alagarsamy Moopar died unmarried and without children. These aspects have to be examined by the Tahsildar before a decision is taken on the petitioner's request for patta.

3. Accordingly, without expressing any opinion on the merits, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the second respondent to conduct an inquiry in relation to the petitioner's request for patta after issuing 2/4

notice to the petitioner and to Alagarsamy Moopar or his legal heirs. A speaking order shall be issued within three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
