An extent of about 8.06.50 hectares owned by the petitioner's family was acquired under the Tamil Nadu Acquisition of Land for Industrial Purposes Act, 1997. In relation to the award issued in such proceedings, the petitioner requested that a reference be made for enhancement of compensation under Section 8 of the aforesaid enactment. The present Writ Petition relates thereto.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the third respondent refused to accede to the petitioner's request and that it is the second respondent who is authorised under law to make such reference.
3. Learned Government Advocate accepts notice for all the respondents. He has placed on record papers relating to the pending L.A.O.P. proceedings. Therefore, he submits that a reference cannot be made at this juncture.

4. On perusal of the papers provided by learned Government Advocate, it appears that the said proceedings relate to apportionment between contesting claimants. Therefore, a case is made out to direct the second respondent to consider the petitioner's request.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's request for reference and to pass orders thereon within three (3) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
