ORDER
This Criminal Original Petition is filed to direct the respondents to provide police protection to the petitioner's life and limb since he apprehends trouble while demolishing the property.
2. This Court had earlier directed the respondent Police to verify whether there is any objection from the neighbours for demolition of the subject property.
3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that there is no objection and that the petitioner seeks police protection for demolition pursuant to the order passed by the Madurai Corporation dated 16.09.2025, directing the petitioner to demolish the building.
4. When specifically asked as to why the petitioner seeks police protection when there is no interference by any person, the learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that it would be desirable if police are present during demolition, as the houses are close to each other. 2/5
5. The learned Government Advocate would submit that the respondent Police have no objection to grant police protection provided the petitioner is willing to pay the necessary cost.
6. The respondent Police shall determine the cost payable by the petitioner for such police protection, which shall be paid within a period of two
(2) weeks from the date of receipt of this order and on payment of such cost, the respondent Police shall provide police protection as prayed for.
7. With the above observations, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
