Respondent Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records pertaining to the impugned Refusal Check slip in RFL/Thirumayam/87/2025 dated 16.10.2025 issued by the respondent and quash the same and consequently direct the respondent to register the document dated 16.10.2025 presented by the petitioner within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

ORDER
Heard both sides.
2.Release deed dated 16.10.2025 was executed in favour of the writ petitioner and his brothers in respect of the petition mentioned property. The document was presented for registration. On the ground that there was a discrepancy regarding the grandfather's name as shown in the death certificate of the petitioner's father, registration was refused. Challenging the same, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.Copy of the patta in respect of the property has been enclosed in the typed set of papers. It is seen that the property stood in the name of Karuppan, who is admittedly the father of the writ petitioner. Karuppan had passed away way back in the year 2003. Copy of the death certificate has been enclosed. In the death certificate, the name of the Karuppan's father (the writ petitioner's grandfather) name has been mentioned as "Meiyappan" instead of "Meiyyan". In patta, the name has been mentioned as "Meiyyan". Citing this discrepancy with regard to the 2/4
grandfather's name in the patta and the death certificate, registration has been refused.
4.The registering authority need not be concerned about the correctness of the writ petitioner's grandfather's name. When the patta stood in the name of the petitioner's father, no objection can be raised for registering the document in question. The impugned refusal check slip is quashed. The parties are permitted to re-present the document. It shall be registered and released subject to the fulfilment of the other usual formalities.
5.This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. 25.10.2025 NCC : Yes/No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No MGA To The Sub Registrar, Office of the Sub Registrar Office, Thirumayam, Pudukkottai District.
