ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking to quash the FIR in Crime No.90 of 2025 on the file of the first respondent, which was registered for the offences under Sections 296(b), 118(1), 351(3) BNS, and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002.

2. The allegation in the FIR is that on account of previous enmity, the petitioner, who is the brother in-law of the defacto complainant, had attacked the defacto complainant with hands and sticks, besides abusing in filthy language and committed the offence of criminal intimidation.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner and the defacto complainant are relatives and the parties have now arrived at a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 07.11.2025.

4. The petitioner and the second respondent are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.R.Rajkumar, HC626, Peraiyur Police Station, Ramanathapuam District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

Considering the nature of the offences and the relationship and the compromise arrived between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served in keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.90 of 2025 is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to this Bench forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry. The joint compromise memo dated 07.11.2025 shall form part of this order.
