O R D E R
This Criminal Original Petition is filed to quash the impugned FIR registered for the offences under Sections 189(2), 296(b), 115(2), 118(1), 351(3) of BNS, 2023 and Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s) and 3(2)(va) of the SC and ST (POA) Amendment Act, 2015.
2. The gist of the allegations in the FIR is that on account of prior enmity, the petitioners had attacked the defacto complainant with hands and sticks, abused him in filthy language and also committed the offence of criminal intimidation and thus, committed the aforesaid offences.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners and the defacto complainant are known to each other; that they are college students; and that the dispute arose due to their differences. He further submitted that the parties have arrived at a 2/6
compromise and produced the joint compromise memo.
4. It is also reported that the 3rd respondent though is a victim under the SC and ST (POA) Amendment Act, 2015, has not yet received any compensation.

The petitioners, namely, Arul Muthu Selvam (Aadhaar No.2884 8478 2782), Satheesh @ Sathishkumar (Aadhaar No.6612 4332 7217), Mathar Pakkir (Aadhaar No.3798 1319 2342), Sudhan @ Muthu Suthan (Aadhaar No.9335 1342 1971), Mani @ Murugan @ Manikandan (Aadhaar No.8023 2625 0854), Kandha @ Ramasamy (Aadhaar No.4267 4640 3290), John @ Sundar @ Sundar John (Aadhaar No.3051 5074 5725), Sudhakaran (Aadhaar No.8638 2162 1133) and the third respondent, namely, Lakshmi Narayanan (Aadhaar No.5511 6694 4953) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.D.Arul Samuvel, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Pettai Police Station, Tirunelveli City. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

In view of the same and considering the nature of the allegations and since the defacto complainant himself does not want to pursue the complaint, no useful purpose would be served in keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No. 235 of 2025 dated 28.08.2025 is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
7. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to this Bench forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo, reporting compliance in the Registry. The joint compromise memo dated 28.10.2025 shall form part of this order. 03.11.2025 mbi 4/6
