ORDER

The petitioner seeks to quash the impugned final report filed for the offences under Sections 294(b), 323, 341 and 506 (ii) IPC.

2. The gist of the allegation is that on account of prior enmity, the petitioner waylaid the defacto complainant, attacked him with hands, abused him in filthy language and committed the offence of criminal intimidation.

3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 25.09.2025.

4. It appears that the petitioner is in custody in connection with another case and he has signed the compromise memo in the presence of the Jailor, Central Prison, Palayamkottai and the said compromise memo is taken on record.

5. The defacto complainant, who is present before this Court in perso, is identified by Mr.A.Kannappan, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Vadaseri Police Station, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District and confirms the compromise. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

Considering the nature of the allegation, the relationship and the compromise arrived at between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 25.09.2025, shall form part and parcel of the order. The petitioner shall pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to this Bench and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry. 21.11.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No LS 3/5
