O R D E R
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to quash the final report in C.C.No.191 of 2024, on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Madurai, filed against the petitioners for the offences punishable under Sections 147, 148, 294(b), 323, 324 and 506(i) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
2. The allegation in the final report is that, on account of previous enmity, the petitioners attacked the defacto complainant and his brotherin-law, one Arumugam, which was witnessed by the defacto complainant's son, Muthiralu, the second respondent herein.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the defacto complainant died on 04.07.2024 and the victim, Arumugam, died on 18.01.2025; that the eyewitness is the said Muthiralu, who is the son of Page No. 2 of 9
the defacto complainant and has been arrayed as L.W.4; and that the parties have arrived at a compromise.
4. The parties have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 27th October 2025. The scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

The petitioners, namely, (1) Suresh [Aadhaar No.6872 9204 6666], (2) Muruganantham [Aadhaar No.6990 6873 9609], (3) Arul @ Arul Jothi [Aadhaar No.2132 7264 3836], (4) Mahesh @ Mageshwari [Aadhaar No.8761 0577 4128] and (5) Sarasu @ Saraswathi [Aadhaar No. 8973 6833 4143] and the second respondent/son of the defacto complainant, namely, Muthirulan [Aadhaar No.7150 2564 6059] are present before this Court in person. The parties are identified by Mr.R.Sasikumar, Special Sub-Inspector of Police, Silaiman Police Station, Madurai District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

6. In view of the same and considering the nature of the offences, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report in C.C.No.191 of 2024, on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Madurai, is quashed. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.5,000/- as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
