Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to consider the equivalency of M.B.A. (Banking and Finance) from the date of award of degree by the Alagappa University to the public employment and thus render justice.

ORDER

This writ petition is filed seeking a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the equivalency of M.B.A. (Banking and Finance) from the date of award of degree by the Alagappa University to the public employment.

The prayer that has been sought for in the writ petition, seeking to consider the equivalency of MBA (Banking and Finance) degree granted by Alagappa University is acceded by the department based upon the government order in G.O.Ms.No.232, Higher Education Department dated 06.10.2025. But, however, it is the case of the department that the petitioner only secured 228.00 marks and she belonged to BC(W) category. The cut off mark for the BC(W) category was fixed as 229.50 and therefore the name of the petitioner cannot be considered. The said statement has been taken on record, the respondents themselves acceded to the claim of the petitioner to treat her degree certificate as equivalent to MBA (Finance) for the petitioner.

3. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the first respondent would submit that the equivalence declared after the cut off date cannot be considered. The equivalence declared by the Government after the cut off date is not available to the petitioner as per the notification and therefore, she is not entitled to the prayer sought for in the writ petition. He would further submit that if the petitioner comes within the cut off for the reserved list, her name shall be included in the reserved list.

4. Recording the above submissions, this court is inclined to dispose of the writ petition. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
