This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the learned Judicial Magistrate No. II, Thanjavur, to expedite the trial in C.C. No. 119 of 2022, within the time stipulated by this Court. 1/4

2. The Hon'ble Supreme Court has repeatedly held that there cannot be any direction fixing a time frame for the conclusion of the trial. Admittedly, several older cases are pending before the learned Judicial Magistrate. Hence, the direction as prayed for, seeking fixation of a time limit, cannot be granted. However, Considering the fact that the petitioner is aged about 65 years, the learned Judicial Magistrate shall consider the case of the petitioner as expeditiously as possible.

3. With the above observation, this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
