ORDER

The petitioners seek to quash the impugned final report filed for the offences under Sections 352, 294(b), 341, 506(ii) IPC r/w. Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002.

2. The gist of the allegation is that the defacto complainant is the erstwhile wife of the first petitioner and on account of prior enmity, the petitioners had attacked the defacto complainant with hands and abused her in filthy language and thus committed the aforesaid offences.

3. Admittedly, the petitioners and the second respondent are close relatives and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 18.06.2025.

4. The petitioners and the defacto complainant are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.E.Selvam, HC-2444, Alwarthirunagari Police Station, Thoothukudi District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them. 2/4

Considering the nature of the allegation, the relationship and the compromise arrived at between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 18.06.2025, shall form part and parcel of the order. The petitioners shall jointly pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to this Bench and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry. 24.11.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No LS TO
