ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to issue a TET Pass Certificate to the petitioner by treating her communal category as Backward Class (Muslim) instead of General, based on the marks obtained by her in the TET conducted in the year 2022, and by considering her representation dated 13.09.2025 within the time to be stipulated by this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents. Perused the records.

3. The petitioner submits that she completed B.Sc. (Mathematics) in 2009 and B.Ed. in 2010, and belongs to the Backward Class (Muslim) community. She applied for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) pursuant to Notification No.01/2022 dated 07.03.2022 issued by the first respondent. During the process of online registration, she inadvertently selected the General Category instead of BC (Muslim) due to technical difficulties in uploading her community certificate. The petitioner appeared for the TET examination on 04.02.2023 with Roll No.22TET2124618350 and 2/6

secured 89 marks out of 150. According to her, the minimum qualifying marks for BC category is 82, and therefore she would have been considered as qualified. Since TET is only an eligibility test and not a competitive selection, she submits that allowing correction of her communal category would not prejudice any other candidate. She claims that her representation dated 13.09.2025 seeking issuance of TET Pass Certificate under BC (Muslim) category was not considered, compelling her to file the present petition.

4. A counter affidavit has been filed by the respondents. They submit that the petitioner had applied under Open Category (OC) and uploaded a community certificate containing her husband's name. In such cases, the system automatically treats the applicant as belonging to the General category, and therefore the community certificate cannot be uploaded to claim reservation. The respondents rely on Clause 5(e) of Notification No. 01/2022 dated 07.03.2022, which clearly states that all particulars filled in the online application are final, and no correspondence for change of details will be entertained. The application window had closed on 13.04.2022, and an opportunity for correction/editing of applications was later provided from 24.07.2022 to 27.07.2022, which the petitioner failed to utilise.

5. The respondents further submit that the cut-off marks for the OC category is 90, whereas the petitioner has secured only 89 marks. Hence her 3/6

result was correctly declared as "Not Qualified." They also point out that as per the instructions uploaded on the TRB website, uploading a community certificate showing the spouse's name results in the candidate being treated as General category only. It is therefore contended that no request for postresult modification of communal category can be entertained, and that the writ petition is liable to be dismissed.

6. In view of the above facts and circumstances, this Court is of the opinion that no interference is warranted. The correction sought by the petitioner cannot be permitted after the publication of results, particularly in view of the explicit terms of the TET Notification and the opportunity for correction that had already been given. Further, the petitioner has consciously selected the general category and after coming to know that she does not qualify under the general category now seeking to correct her omission by contending that the selection of category was inadvertent.

7. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. However, this order shall not preclude the petitioner from participating in future examinations. No costs.
