Prayer : Criminal Original Petition is filed under Section 482 of Criminal Procedure Code/Section 528 of BNSS, 2023, to call for the records pertaining to the Charge Sheet in C.C.No.2782 of 2025 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate IV, Tirunelveli and quash the same as illegal in respect of this petitioner concerned.

ORDER
The petitioners seek to quash the final report in C.C.No.2782 of 2025 dated 27.06.2025 on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate No.IV, Tirunelveli, which was filed for the offences under Section 498(A), 294(b), 506(i) and 352 IPC.
2. The gist of the allegation in the impugned final report is that the petitioners had committed cruelty upon the defacto complainant on account of dowry demand, attacked her with sticks and abused her in filthy language and thus committed the aforesaid offences.

3. Admittedly, the first petitioner and the defacto complainant are husband and wife and the petitioners 2 to 6 are family members of the first petitioner. They have now entered into a compromise and have decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 4th November 2025.

The petitioners, namely, Sudalaimani (Aadhaar No.6134 5518 3651), Muthumanickam (Aadhaar No.3119 6605 6063), Sudaliammal (Aadhaar No. 7700 6806 7354), Devi (Aadhaar No.5403 7487 6231), Murugan (Aadhaar No. 2870 7504 7968), Mahalakshmi (Aadhaar No.5789 6593 0538), and the second respondent, namely, Suriyakala (Aadhaar No.7145 8411 8419) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Ms.Mary Anisha, Women Head Constable, All Women Police Station, Tirunelveli Town, Tirunelveli City. The defacto complainant confirms that she is living with the first petitioner and all the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.
5. In view of the same, considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report in C.C.No.2782 of 2025 dated 3/5
27.06.2025 is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as costs to the High Court Legal Services Authority attached to this Bench forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
