ORDER

Heard both sides.

2.The petitioner wants this Court to direct the Executive Magistrate to convene a peace committee meeting. I have been consistently holding that while such a meeting can be organized to amicably resolve the issues, they do not have any statutory power as such. Even a decision taken in such a meeting cannot be legally enforced. Therefore, questioning of issuing the direction sought for does not arise.

3.The petitioner wants to assert a religious right. The petitioner is permitted to file a proper original application under Section 63 of the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act before the third respondent. As and when, the same is filed, it shall be numbered 2/4

immediately provided papers are in order. The third respondent will issue notice to all the interested persons and give a disposal on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight months thereafter. I have not gone into the merits of the matter.
