Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus calling for the entire records pertaining to the letter (D).NO. 634 dated 14/06/2010 by the 1st respondent rejecting the petitioners name for inclusion in the panel of Additional Superintendent of Police (CategoryI) fit for promotion as Superintendent of Police (Non-Cadre) for the year 1998-99 quash the same and consequently direct the respondent to be judiciously and equitably consider and notionally promote the petitioner as Superintendent of Police with effect from the date of promotion of petitioners immediate junior in seniority and consequently direct the respondent to give all attended service benefits including revised pay and pension with arrears from the date of petitioner promotion. Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner had died and hence, the petition may be dismissed as abated.
