ORDER
The petition is to quash the impugned final report registered for the offences under Sections 417 and 376(2)(n) I.P.C.
2. The gist of the allegation in the impugned final report is that the petitioner on the promise of marriage had sexual intercourse with the defacto complainant and thereafter refused to marry the defacto complainant and thus committed the aforesaid offences.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the parties have since arrived at a compromise and the defacto complaint is now married to the petitioner; that the marriage is registered; and that a child is also born out of the wedlock. The parties have arrived at a compromise and filed a joint compromise memo dated 28.10.2025 and both the parties have agreed that the impugned final report may be quashed.

5. The petitioner (Aadhaar No.4459 0059 9344) and the second respondent (Aadhaar No.8862 5337 8791) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Ms.T.Kannaki, S.S.I., Keelakkarai Police Station. Both the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

Considering the fact that the second respondent / defacto complainant had a consensual relationship with the petitioner and that the defacto complainant has now married the petitioner and a girl child is also born out of the wedlock and this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served in keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The petitioner shall pay a sum of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as costs to the High Court Legal Services Authority attached to this Bench forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry. Crl.M.P.(MD)No.16241 of 2025 is closed.
