None appears on behalf of the petitioner. There is no appearance on behalf of Madurai Corporation also.

2. The Commissioner, Madurai Corporation, assessed the property tax due from the petitioner in respect of her property, bearing Door No.29. According to the petitioner, the building is an old one and as such, the Commissioner was not correct in fixing the property tax at an exorbitant rate. The petitioner, therefore, submitted a representation dated 26.07.2010. Since there was no follow up action taken by the respondent, the petitioner has come up with this Writ Petition.

3. The matter relates to the year 2011. The petitioner is having an alternative remedy of filing an appeal against the order passed by the respondent. There is no question of directing the respondent to consider the representation in a matter relating to assessment of property tax. I am, therefore, of the view that no relief, as prayed for by the petitioner in the Writ Petition, could be granted. However, I make it clear that this order would not stand in the way of the petitioner from taking up the issue in accordance with law.

4. The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above observation. No costs.
