The petitioner asserts that he is the adopted son of one Palaniappan, whose name was reflected as pattadar in the revenue records relating to survey No.357/2. On the ground that his name was deleted from later revenue records, the petitioner had applied to the District Collector and others for cancellation of patta. This Writ Petition relates thereto.

2. Learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice for both the respondents. By referring to a communication from the District Collector to the Revenue Divisional Officer, he submits that orders would be passed on merits by the Revenue Divisional Officer within three (3) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3. In the above facts and circumstances, without expressing any opinion on the merits, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's request for cancellation/mutation of patta and pass orders thereon on merits within 2/4

three (3) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner and to the current pattadars. No costs.
