The land in S.No.194/1B had been assigned to one Kovilpillai @ Palani Mathari. By a sale deed dated 23.02.1996, the petitioner purchased the said land from the legal heirs of the said Kovilpillai @ Palani Mathari. Because the assignment was cancelled by order dated 03.08.2018, the petitioner appealed against such order before the first respondent. Thereafter, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 23.05.2025 for issuance of patta in his name. The present Writ Petition relates thereto.
2.Learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of all the respondents. He submits that the petitioner's request for patta cannot be considered in view of the cancellation of assignment. 2/4
However, he submits that the appeal against such cancellation would be considered and disposed of on merits within a reasonable time. 3.In view of the above submissions, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's request for restoration of the assignment within four (4) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner and any other persons who would be affected by such order. No costs.
