ORDER

The petitioner sought for quashing of the impugned FIR for the alleged offences under Section 69 BNS.

2. The gist of the allegation is that the petitioner and the defacto complainant had a love affair; that on the promise of marriage, the petitioner had sexual intercourse with the defaco complainant; and that thereafter refused to marry.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner and defacto complainant had a consensual relationship and now they had entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 04.11.2025.

4. The petitioners and the second respondent / defacto complainant are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Ms.V.Arulmary, WSSI, Thiruvadanai Police Station, Ramanathapuram 2/4

District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

5. Considering the fact that the petitioner and the defacto complainant had a consensual relationship and that the parties have since arrived at a compromise, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.15 of 2025 is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.15,000/- as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to this Bench and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
