ORDER
The writ petition has been filed seeking to issue a Mandamus directing the respondents not to arbitrarily increase the rent of the petitioner's shop Nos. 376, 357 and 336 situated at Madurai Mattuthavani Integrated Vegetable Market by considering his representation dated 18.08.2025.
2. Heard the arguments of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.K.K.Kannan, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of the respondents. By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is having shop Nos.376, 357 and 336 at Mattuthavani Integrated Vegetable Market, Madurai City. Without any prior intimation to the petitioner and other shops owners in the Madurai Mattuthavani Integrated Vegetable Market, the respondents is increasing the shop rent, which is violative of the provisions of the Urban Local Bodies Act, 2023 and Rent Control Act. In this regard, the petitioner has sent representation to the respondents and the same is yet to be considered. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court by way of the present writ petition. 2/5
4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents submits that the representation submitted by the petitioner will be considered in accordance with law.

In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the respondents are directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 18.08.2025 and pass final orders on its own merits, within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after issuing notice to the petitioner as well as other interested parties. Till the disposal of the petitioner's representation, the rent shall not be enhanced.
6. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. 06.11.2025 NCC : Yes/No Index : Yes/No Internet:Yes Rmk 3/5
