ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus as against the first respondent to renew the passport of the writ petitioner based upon his application dated 14.08.2024 and his explanation dated 25.10.2025. 2.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents 2 to 6 had brought to the notice of the Court that the following cases are pending as against the petitioner.

3.The petitioner, out of the six cases referred above, two of the cases in Crime Nos.21 of 2016 and 38 of 2014 on the file of the Town Police Station, Sivagangai and Thondi Police Station, Ramnad respectively have been referred as 'mistake of fact'. The criminal case pending on the file of Avaniyapuram Police Station in Crime No.62 of 2017 has been closed. As far as the three cases in Crime Nos.443 of 2014 on the file of Melur Police Station, Madurai, Crime No.185 of 2019 on the file of Kalayaarkovil Police Station, Sivagangai and Crime No.914 of 2015 on the file of the Town Police Station, Sivagangai are concerned, they are under investigation for more than 10 years. So far charge sheet has not been filed. 4.Our High Court in a judgement reported in (2014) 8 MLJ 61 (W.Jaihar William v. State of Tamil Nadu), pendency of F.I.R is not a legal impediment for issuance of passport.
5.Considering the above said facts, the first respondent is directed to consider the request of the petitioner for issuance of passport within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
