ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition is filed to quash the FIR in Crime No.283 of 2025 dated 10.05.2025 on the file of the first respondent, which was registered for the offences under Sections 296(b), 115(2), and 351(3) of BNS, 2023 r/w. Section 4 of TN Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002.

2. The allegation in the FIR is that on account of prior enmity, the petitioner attacked the de-facto complainant and his sister with his hands, abused them in filthy language, and thus committed the offence of criminal intimidation.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the de-facto complainant does not wish to pursue the case any further, and the parties have now arrived at a compromise and have also filed a joint compromise memo dated 24.10.2025.

4. The petitioner, namely Daniel Jacob (Aadhaar No.7231 0858 2922), and the 2nd respondent, namely Nareshkumar (Aadhaar No.5646 1340 0222), are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.J.Venkatesh, 2/4

Head Constable, Thuvakkudi Police Station, Trichy District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

Considering the nature of the allegations against the petitioner, the fact that the de-facto complainant himself does not wish to pursue the case, and in view of the compromise arrived at between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served in keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.283 of 2025 dated 10.05.2025 is quashed and this Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The petitioner shall pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to this Bench forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry. The joint compromise memo dated 24.10.2025 shall form part of this order.
