ORDER

The petitioner seeks for quashing of the FIR in Crime No.236 of 2025 on the file of the first respondent for the alleged offences under Section 189(2), 296(b), 115(2), 118(1), 351(3) of BNS, 2023.

2. The gist of the allegation in the impugned FIR is that on account of prior enmity, the petitioners attacked the defacto complainant with hands and belt, abused him in filthy language and threatened him of dire consequences and thus committed the aforesaid offences.

Admittedly, the petitioners and the defacto complainant are studying at the same college; that there was a counter complaint against the defacto complainant; that on account of a compromise entered into the parties, the said FIR was quashed in Crl.O.P(MD) No.18807 of 2025, vide order dated 03.11.2025; that they have entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute; and that he parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 06th November 2025.

4. The petitioners and the respondents 2 to 4 are present before this Court in person. They are identified by the Police Officer attached to Pettai Police Station, Tirunelveli City. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

In view of the same and considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.236 of 2025 dated 29.08.2025 is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand only) as costs to the High Court Legal Services Authority attached to this Bench forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
