ORDER

The writ petition has been filed seeking to quash the impugned notice issued by the first respondent dated 24.10.2025 and consequential direction to the first respondent to issue passport to the petitioner, within a time frame fixed by this Court.

Heard the arguments of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.S.Selvakrishnan, learned Central Government Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of the first respondent and Mr.S.Prakash, learned Government Advocate (crl.side), who takes notice on behalf of the second respondent.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he had applied for a passport before the first respondent office. However, vide notice dated 24.10.2025, the first respondent called upon the petitioner to offer his explanation in view of the adverse police verification report received against him. Aggrieved by the said notice, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition. 2/4

4. A perusal of the impugned notice reveals that it is only a notice calling for an explanation from the petitioner. Without submitting any explanation, the petitioner rushed to Court seeking to quash the said notice. The impugned notice has been issued on account of the fact that the first respondent has received an adverse police verification report. The petitioner shall therefore submit his explanation to the first respondent. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs.
