The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a Mandamus as against the first respondent to renew the passport based upon the petitioner's application dated 04.02.2025. The petitioner is working abroad and he had a passport valid up to 01.07.2025.
2. The petitioner's wife has given a police complaint on 28.04.2022. Based upon the complaint, FIR was registered in Crime No.217 of 2022, on the file of the Melur Police Station, Madurai, for the alleged offences under Sections 294(b), 323 and 506(i) of IPC. So far, charge sheet has not been laid for the past three years period. The petitioner is regularly visiting abroad and there is no allegation that he is absconding.
3. In view of the fact that charge sheet has not been laid and the petitioner's criminal complaint relates to matrimonial dispute, the authorities are directed to positively consider the request of the petitioner for renewal of passport and pass orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above said observation, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
