By relying on the judgment and decree in A.S.No.96/1987, the petitioner had applied for rectification of the entries in columns 6 and 7 of the Town Survey Register relating to T.S.No.865, Palayamkottai part II Village, Block No.10. The present Writ Petition relates thereto.

Learned counsel for the petitioner referred to the finding and conclusion in the appeal suit and also referred to the communication from the District Revenue Officer stating that he does not have the authority to decide the matter. In those circumstances, he states that the petitioner had approached the Commissioner of Land Administration. By 2/5
referring to the communication from the Commissioner of Land Administration to the District Revenue Officer, he submits that the matter has been referred by the Commissioner of Land Administration to the District Revenue Officer for conducting an inquiry and taking a decision.
3. Learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice for all the respondents. By referring to the communication dated 25.09.2025 from the Commissioner of Land Administration to the District Revenue Officer, he submits that an inquiry would be conducted and a decision would be taken within twelve (12) weeks.
4. The request of the petitioner entails rectification of the entry by changing the classification. It is unclear as to whether the authority to effect such change of classification is vested in the District Revenue Officer. In these circumstances, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the Commissioner of Land Administration and the District Revenue Officer to consider the petitioner's request for rectification by taking into account the judgment and decree in A.S.No.96 of 1987 and pass orders thereon on merits within three (3) months from the date of 3/5
