Respondent PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner petition dated 01.07.2024 for issuance of patta in petitioner name within a stipulated period, as may be fixed by this court.

By relying on sale deed dated 14.07.2004 in favour of the petitioner's father and the subsequent sale deed dated 12.03.2015 in favour of the petitioner, the petitioner had applied for patta transfer. The present writ petition relates thereto.
2. Learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of the sold respondent. He submits that the request for patta transfer should be made before the jurisdictional Tahsildar and not before the Revenue Divisional Officer. If such application were to be filed, he states that the Tahsildar would consider and dispose of the same within three months.
3. In view of the above submissions of learned Special Government Pleader, the Tahsildar, Kaalayarkovil, Sivagangai District is suo motu impleaded as the second respondent in this writ petition.
4. This writ petition is disposed of on the following terms:- a) The petitioner shall submit an application for patta transfer before the Tahsildar in compliance with requirements in such regard within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order; and 2/4
b) Within three months from the date of receipt of such application, the Tahsildar is directed to consider and dispose of the request on merits after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner and any other persons who would be affected by such order. No costs.
