ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the records relating to the impugned order in Letter No.EE/O&M/TYM/AAO/RB/F.T.A-N D.No.5461 dated 31.10.2025 passed by the 2nd respondent and quash the same and consequently direct the respondents to restore the electricity service connection in service No. 06-185-011-612.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner company had been facing financial hardship due to a slump in business operations and is therefore unable to clear the entire dues in one lump sum. Hence, the petitioner seeks to pay the outstanding dues in instalments and reconnection upon payment of the first instalment.

3. The learned standing counsel for the respondents submitted that the petitioner has accumulated substantial arrears and repeated reminders were issued before disconnection was effected. It is further submitted that 2/5

electricity supply can be restored only in accordance with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Supply Code and subject to payment of substantial portion of the arrears.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and taking into account the submissions made on both sides, this Court directs the petitioner to pay 40% of the outstanding amount within a period of eight weeks. The balance amount shall be paid in four equal monthly instalments thereafter, commencing from the date of the first payment. Upon payment of the initial 40%, the respondents shall reconnect the electricity service connection to the petitioner company.

5. This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. 19.11.2025 NCC : Yes/No Index : Yes/No Internet:Yes skn 3/5
