ORDER
This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to disburse the security deposit amount of Rs.99,86,571/- and the balance withheld amount of Rs. 1,24,06,650/- to the petitioner-company for the work executed in the Redevelopment of Old Bus Stand with state-of-the-art facilities in Thoothukudi City Municipal Corporation under Smart City Limited. The petitioner also seeks disbursement of the balance withheld amount relating to File No. E1/3209/2015 (Bus Terminal) within the time frame stipulated by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.N.Anandakumar, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice for the respondent. By consent of both sides, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission.
3. According to the petitioner, the redevelopment work entrusted to them has been completed, yet the respondent has not released the security deposit and the withheld amounts mentioned above. The petitioner states 2/5
that they submitted representations requesting disbursement, but as the same were not considered, they have approached this Court.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that it would suffice if the petitioner's representation dated 23.05.2025 is considered and appropriate orders are passed.
5. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent submits that the respondent will consider the said representation in accordance with law.
6. In view of the above submissions, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the claim, the respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representations dated 23.05.2025 and pass final orders on its own merits, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner.
