ORDER

The above writ petition has been filed for the following relief:- "Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to disburse the balance death benefit claim amount under LIC Policy No.316634392 to the petitioner based on the representation dated 13.10.2025"

2. Mr.D.Shanmugaraja Sethupathi, learned counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondents 1 and 2.

3. By consent of both parties, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

4. The facts as set out in the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition reads as follows:

The petitioner would submit that his father namely late D.Saravanan was a policy holder with the 2nd respondent bearing LIC Policy No. 316634392, for which she was appointed as a nominee under the guardianship of her mother. The date of maturity for the said policy was on 20.12.2034. While so, on 31.12.2023, the petitioner's father had died in a road accident and a case was registered in Crime No.502 of 2023 for the offences under Section 304(A) of I.P.C. Subsequent to his death, the petitioner has made an application with relevant documents before the respondents to disburse the death benefit claims under the LIC Policy No. 316634392.

5. Pursuant to the same, the respondents have paid a sum of Rs.7,06,929/- to the petitioner instead of Rs.10,00,000/-. Therefore, the petitioner has made a representation before the respondents on 13.10.2025. However, no action has been taken to date. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner is before this Court.

6. Mr.D.Shanmugaraja Sethupathi, learned counsel appearing for the respondents would submit that representation submitted by the petitioner dated 13.10.2025, will be considered and orders will be passed within the time stipulated by this Court.

7. In view of the same, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.10.2025 and pass final orders on its own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

8. The writ petition stands disposed of with the above observations. No costs.
