Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay the compensation for the death of the petitioner's elder son namely Arikrishnan based on the petitioner's representation dated 14.09.2024.

ORDER

Heard both sides.

2.The writ petitioner's son met with a road accident on 07.07.2023. He appears to have died shortly thereafter. The petitioner seeks payment of ex gratia compensation. Since it was not disbursed, the present writ petition has been filed.

3.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate for the revenue department submitted that formal proposal has not emanated from the fourth respondent. 2/6

4.Copy of the FIR in Crime No.123 of 2023 registered on the file of the fifth respondent has been enclosed in the typed set of papers. The fourth respondent is directed to look into the matter and submit a formal proposal to the second respondent within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is for the revenue authorities to take a call based on the applicable norms. The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve weeks after receipt of proposal from the fourth respondent.
