The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the respondent to grant suitable employment by fulfilling their promise and statutory duty to the persons from the families whose lands were acquired for the establishment of the factory of Tamil Nadu Newsprint-cum-Paper Mill at Pugalur, Karur Taluk.

2. The grievance of the writ petitioner / Sangam is that the lands belonged to the members of the writ petitioner / Sangam were acquired for the purpose of establishing Tamil Nadu Newsprint Limited. At the time of acquisition, the officials of the respondent made a promise that employment opportunity will be provided to the land loosers. However, the promise was not fulfilled subsequently and therefore, the writ petitioner / Sangam https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

has filed the present writ petition.

3. This Court is of the considered opinion that the claim of appointment is an individual grievance. This apart, it is not made clear as to whether any orders have been passed by the respondent in respect of providing employment in their company. However, this Court is of the considered opinion that if at all any such promise is given to the land loosers, the respondent is bound to consider their case as per the rules in force and as per the promise given. In the present case, the writ petitioner / Sangam has filed the writ petition on behalf of its members. If the members of the writ petitioner / Sangam are otherwise eligible in accordance with the terms and conditions of the land acquisition proceedings or the agreement if any, then the case of members of the writ petitioner - Sangam shall be considered strictly in accordance with the rules in force as well as by following the due procedures.

4. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
