ORDER

The petitioners sought for quashing of the FIR registered for the alleged offences under Sections 296(b), 115(2), 118(1) and 351 (3) BNS.

2. The gist of the allegation is that on account of land dispute, the petitioners attacked the defacto complainant with hands and sticks, abused in filthy language and committed criminal intimidation.

3. Admittedly, the petitioners and the second respondent belong to the same village and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 17.11.2025.

4. The petitioners and the second respondent are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.K.Elangovan, SSI, Vaiyampatty Police Station, Tiruchirapalli District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them. 2/4

Considering the nature of the allegation and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 17.11.2025, shall form part and parcel of the order. The petitioners shall jointly pay a cost of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
