ORDER

The petitioner has sought for quashing of the FIR registered for the alleged offences under Section 79 BNS and Sections 66C, 77 of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008.

2. The gist of the allegation is that the petitioner had created a false instagram I.D and had posted the picture of the defacto complainant in the DP and thus, committed the aforesaid offences.

3. Admittedly, the petitioners and the second respondent belong to the same village and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The alleged instagram I.D has now been closed. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 24.09.2025.

4. The petitioners and the second respondent are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Ms.A.Ananthi, WHC 362, CCD-III Police Station, Madurai City. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

5. Considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 24.09.2025, shall form part and parcel of the order. The petitioner shall pay a cost of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
