This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking to direct the third respondent to provide police protection to ensure the life and limb of the petitioner and his family members, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 07-11-2025.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that there is a dispute between the petitioner and his landlords, who are private respondents herein; that the private respondents are interfering in the possession of the petitioner and hence, police protection has to be ordered.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, would submit that on the petitioner's complaint, an FIR was registered in Cr.No.527 of 2025 and they would conclude the investigation within a period of eight weeks. As regards police protection for protection of the possession, he would submit that the respondent police cannot provide police protection in a dispute between the landlord and tenant. 2/4

4. It appears that on a complaint, an FIR has already been registered, as according to the respondents, a cognizable offence is made out. The respondents shall conclude the investigation within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. As regards the alleged interference by the private respondents in the petitioner's possession of the property, as rightly submitted by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the respondent police would have no jurisdiction to interfere in such a dispute.

6. With the above observation, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
