ORDER

The petitioner seeks to quash the impugned FIR registered for the alleged offences under Sections 69 and 251 (2) BNS.

2. The gist of the allegation is that the petitioner and the defacto complainant had a love affair; that on the promise of marriage, he had sexual intercourse with the defacto complainant and thereafter, refused to marry her and thus committed the aforesaid offences.

3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent are close relatives and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. It is stated that the second respondent now married the petitioner and living happily with the petitioner. The defacto complainant is now aged about 25 years. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 19.11.2025.

4. The petitioner and the second respondent are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Ms.B.Sethulakshmi, WHC-723, 2/5

AWPS, Puliyangudi Police Station, Tenkasi District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

Considering the nature of the allegation, the relationship and the compromise arrived at between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.27 of 2025 is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 19.11.2025, shall form part and parcel of the order. The petitioner shall pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to this Bench and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
