ORDER

The petitioner seeks to quash the impugned final report filed for the offences under Sections 294(b), 307 and 506 (ii) I.P.C. 1/4

2. The gist of the allegation is that on account of prior enmity, the petitioner abused the defacto complainant in filthy language and had attempted to cause death of the defacto complainant by using sickle and since the defacto complainant ducked, he did not sustain any injury.

3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent belong to same village and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 21.11.2025.

4. The petitioner and the defacto complainant are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.K.Murugan, Sub Inspector of Police, Gangaikondan Police Station, Tirunelveli District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

5. Though the petitioner has been charged under Section 307 I.P.C, the defacto complainant admittedly has not sustained any injury. Considering the above facts, nature of the allegation and the compromise arrived at between the parties, this Court is of the view that 2/4

no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 21.11.2025, shall form part and parcel of the order. The petitioner shall pay a cost of Rs.10,000/- to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
