ORDER

The petitioner seeks to quash the impugned final report filed for the offences under Sections 296(b), 115(2) BNS.

2. The gist of the allegation is that on account of matrimonial dispute, the petitioner, who is the husband of the defacto complainant, had attacked the defacto complainant with hands and abused her in filthy language.

3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent are husband and wife and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 21.11.2025.

4. The petitioner and the defacto complainant are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.S.Mani, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Panagudi Police Station, Tirunelveli District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them. 2/4

5. Considering the nature of the allegation, the relationship and the compromise arrived at between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
