ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the 1st and 3rd respondents to take necessary action based on the petitioner's representation dated 17.11.2025 within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that she married one Muthupandi on 04.11.2022 at Park Murugan Temple, Madurai, after a long-term love relationship. His parents opposed the marriage on account of caste differences and the petitioner's financial background. After the couple initially lived peacefully in a rented house, the petitioner's mother-in-law, one Marichelvi, instigated her son to demand dowry and to leave the petitioner. Acting under such instigation, the petitioner's husband began abusing, assaulting, and threatening to kill her. He further attacked the petitioner, broke the CCTV camera, tore the marriage certificate, strangulated her, and attempted to kill her. The petitioner was rescued by the police and her mother, but the husband absconded.

3. The petitioner lodged a complaint, for which only a receipt in C.S.R. No.557 of 2025 was issued. Despite her detailed representation dated 17.11.2025, which clearly disclosed cognizable offences, the respondent police 2/5

have neither registered an FIR nor taken any action. Hence, the present petition.

Mr.A.S.Abul Kalaam Azad, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), on instructions, submitted that already the petitioner's representation has been considered and respective parties were summoned by the police for an enquiry. During the course of enquiry, the petitioner's mother-in-law fainted, due to which the police were unable to proceed further with the enquiry.

5. Heard the learned counsel on either side, and have perused the materials available on record.

6. In view of the above, this Court is of the considered view that without precipitating the matter any further, the respondent police is directed to conclude the enquiry within a period of two [2] weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
