ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the 1st and 2nd respondents to take appropriate action upon the petitioner's representation dated 13.10.2025 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within the period stipulated by this Court.

2. This writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage, after dispensing with the notice on the private respondent.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side, and have perused the materials available on record.

4. It is the case of the petitioner that he was waylaid and attacked by the 3rd respondent on 19.08.2025 and was also verbally abused on the basis of his caste. Owing to the injuries sustained, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a Government hospital and has been undergoing treatment. The 2nd respondent police also recorded the petitioner's statement from the hospital but, for reasons unknown, have not registered any FIR till date. Hence, the present petition.

5. Mr.A.S.Abul Kalaam Azad, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), on instructions, submitted that the assault took place within the jurisdiction of Theni Taluk Police Station and that the Palanichettipatti Police Station has been wrongly implicated.

6. Per contra, Mr.M.Jerin Mathew, learned counsel for the petitioner, submitted that the Palanichettipatti Police and the Theni Taluk Police are disputing as to which station should deal with the matter.

7. In view of the above, the Inspector of Police, Theni Taluk Police Station, Theni, is directed to take appropriate action on the petitioner's representation dated 13.10.2025. The petitioner is also advised to submit a fresh representation to the Theni Police Station, and on receipt of the same, the matter shall be concluded within a period of two (2) weeks thereafter.
