ORDER
The writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the respondent to carry out the necessary correction in the petitioner's Aadhar card by showing the name of the petitioner as K.Shanthi instead of Sankareswari.
2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the material records of the matter.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that earlier when the petitioner sought to correct the name, again there was mistake even in the Gazette that is printed.
4. Per contra, the learned Deputy Solicitor General of India for the respondent filed a counter and submits that, if a proper and corrected Gazette is made and the same is uploaded, appropriate correction will be carried out as per the procedure.
5. In that regard, the learned counsel for the petitioner today would produce the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette No.8 dated 25.02.2026 Part VI-Section 4, where under the notification in respect of the 2/4
petitioner is contained as entry number 5470. The notification clearly reads that the petitioner Sankareswari shall henceforth be known as K.Shanthi. Therefore, there cannot be any further impediment.
6. In view thereof, this writ petition is disposed of on the following terms:- i. The petitioner shall make a fresh application through the Aadhar Center enclosing the Fresh Gazette.
ii. Upon such application being filed by the petitioner, the respondent is directed to consider the same and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a web copy of this order, without waiting for the certified copy of the order.
iii. No costs.
