ORDER

The petitioner is a Block Development Officer. He was issued with a charge memo under Section 17(a) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services [Discipline and Appeal] Rules in Na.Ka.No.5514 /2023/Pa/1[va], dated 30.08.2023 and after enquiry he was issued with a punishment of censure. As against the order of punishment, the petitioner has already filed an appeal before the 1st respondent on 02.05.2025. In view of the pendency of the disciplinary proceedings, he has lost the promotion for the year 2025-2026. Unless the appeal is decided within a reasonable time, he may also lose the promotion in future also. Therefore, the petitioner seeks a direction to the 1st respondent to dispose of the appeal within a reasonable time.

2.The learned Government Advocate, who takes notice for the respondents seeks time to ascertain the stage of the appeal filed by the petitioner.

3.Considering the limited relief sought for, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the 1st respondent to dispose of the appeal filed by the petitioner, within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
