ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the learned II Additional District and Sessions Judge (PCR), Thanjavur, to accept the surrender of the petitioner and to consider the bail application to be filed by the petitioner on the same day in Crime No. 572/2025 on the file of the 2nd respondent police.

2. Considering the nature of the relief sought for, notice to the 3rd respondent is dispensed with.

3. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner, in a drunken state, attacked the de facto complainant with a utensil at 6 pm on 24.11.2025. Later, at 10 pm, the petitioner went to the de facto complainant's home with an aruval, abused him using his caste name, and the de facto complainant escaped. Based on these allegations, the police registered a case in crime No.572/2025 under Sections 296(b), 351(3), 294(b) and 506(ii) of BNS and Section 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), 3(2) (va) of the SC/ST Act.

4. Heard the learned counsels on either side and carefully perused the materials available on record.

Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for, this Court hereby direct the learned II Additional District and Sessions Judge (PCR), Thanjavur, to issue prior notice to the de facto complainant and thereafter to consider the bail application of the petitioner on the same day of his surrender before that Court in connection with Crime No.572 of 2025 on the file of the 2nd respondent police.
